Hey Friend! Thank you for taking the time out of your life to write and share all this. I’m sorry that a health diagnosis was the trigger, bc I’m very interested in your early retirement planning as Jason and I are contemplating something similar!

We are definitely still planning to do the slow travel, especially now that he has a better understanding of his diagnosis. I will be doing a post on the panning at some point, but the easiest place to start is an excel spreadsheet. Across the top I put the months of the year, down the side the locations we wanted to visit. Then I went and looked at the best times of year for each (lower crowds, good weather) and colored each cell green that lined up. Once you have that, you can factor in the Schengen visa rules and figure out your travel plan.

I love this! One question I have, who looks after your fur baby while you are away? This is one of our biggest dilemmas 🤣🐶

We aren’t going to start doing any long trips until she passes. She’s 15, so a week or two is the most we feel comfortable doing now.

Got it. Ours are young 5 and 3 and the most we have done is about 10 days, we have a Europe trip coming up for thanksgiving which will be closer to 15 days which has me stressed! How do you care for Mochi (that’s her name right?) while you are away? We are indulging in in-home sitters which allows me to sleep at night but is so $$$.

It used to be one of our kids, but now that they are all in college we use an in home sitter. It’s expensive, but worth it for her to not be as stressed.
