We’re settling into a pretty nice routine here in Puerto Vallarta, and even though the heat & humidity have been oppressive at times, having 4 more weeks here still sounds pretty great.
We usually start our mornings early, when the ocean breeze and cloud cover make walking pleasant. One of our favorite things to do is walk along the water and watch the fishermen bring in their catch. Sometimes very bold pelicans cozy up to see if they can get free samples. The fishermen seem unphased by them.
This week it was time for a little pampering. Shawn got a haircut and beard trim, and I stopped at The Nail Spa for a manicure and pedicure. Prices are slightly less than in the US, and honestly the quality of all our services far exceeded what we normally get back home.
In the afternoon we typically have lunch at the condo and then head downstairs for some pool time. We’ve developed a fondness for the swim-up bar, and the friendly staff who work there know Shawn by name now (“Norm!” - ok, that reference aged me).
We’ve also made friends with Tiger, (Tigre is his government name), the orange tabby who usually finds us at the pool and lounges under our chairs. We started bringing him treats, so I’m under no illusion that it’s our sparkling personalities he’s hanging around for. Still, we enjoy his company, and he seems very pleased with the arrangement.
At night we might head out to dinner if we aren’t experiencing a downpour. We celebrated the re-opening of Pancho’s Takos this week; they’re one of our favorites for Tacos al Pastor. Typically there is a line down the block to eat here, but we got there early (maybe too early, as the sun had not set yet so we were as hot as that meat on the spit).

If we’re home, watching the sun set from the balcony is fantastic. Then, we might play a board game or cards until about 8:30, when the Pirate Show & Dinner Cruise ship sails up in front of us and stages a battle with the shore, setting off fireworks for the finale. It’s become one of our favorite little perks of staying here.
Nothing particularly extraordinary, but that’s what we’re loving about this pace of travel. We don’t need to fill every day with activities or check another attraction off a list. Sometimes it’s enough to enjoy the place we’re in and the little routines we’ve made.
Although I have to admit, fireworks at night from your deck are a pretty nice addition to an otherwise ordinary day.

Sounds like a wonderful life❣️
Love that you have a nightly fireworks show. Those tacos look amazing!
